Our fees and funding structure

St. James Pre-School is a registered charity (Charity number: 1063711) and a non-profit organisation.

Income sources and Expenditure

Our income sources include:

  • Fees from parents

  • Fundraising

  • Early Years Entitlement government funding for children aged 3 to 4 years

    Please note: children become eligible for Early years funding from the term after their third birthday.

    For eligible working families in England:

  • Up to 15hours over 38weeks for 2-year-olds (disadvantaged entitlement and working parents)

  • Up to 30hours over 38weeks for 3-4 year old

Our expenditure covers:

  • Staff salaries, training, rent, utilities and administration costs. This includes the provision of a high adult-to-child ratio.

  • Materials, consumables and play equipment for the children.

  • Enrichment programmes such as Enjoy-a-Ball, Beam Academy (mindfulness practices), Little Imaginations and Little London Ballet, as well as experiences like chicks and animal handling with Wild Science.

Our Charges

Fees for children under and over 3 years old:

  • Morning session:    9am to 12pm - £27

  • Afternoon session: 1pm to 4pm - £27

  • Full day:                 9am to 4pm - £63

Children must attend a minimum of 3 sessions or 2 full days.

Unfunded extended hours:

  • £7 for breakfast club 8.30 to 9.00 am. Includes a breakfast of cereal, toast and fruit.

  • £9 per hour . Packed lunch would need to be provided.

From the term following a child’s third birthday:

  • Those in receipt of Early Years Free Entitlement (EYFE) can attend 15 hours per week (flexibility and extra hours are available).

  • We are able to offer 30 hours extended entitlement to eligible families.

  • Government funding will be deducted from our fees.

Administration Charges

In addition to the above fees, we have a few one-off charges to facilitate the enrolment process:

  • A one-time £10 registration fee to process prospective applications.

  • Upon acceptance of a place, a £35 fee towards set-up administration costs and a £100 deposit. The deposit will be refunded against final term’s fees, with any surplus refunded in full at the end of the notice period.

Payment information

To provide clarity on payment terms and conditions, please note:

  • Termly fees are usually paid in instalments at the beginning of each half term, i.e. half at each half term.

  • We do not refund fees for absences due to illness or holidays during term time.

  • One-month’s notice is required if you want to withdraw your child from the Pre-School. Otherwise, we charge a month’s fees from the date notice is given.

  • All children over 3 years old receive Early Years Entitlement Funding from the term after their third birthday.

  • Support is available to parents and caregivers who may face difficulty paying fees. Please discuss any such issues with our Pre-School Manager.
