A question that comes up quite frequently is why we ask for Voluntary Contributions and what these are used for.
Voluntary Contributions are an important source of income for the Pre-School as the funding we receive from the government towards the 15 or 30 hour free entitlement does not come anywhere close to covering the cost of providing these sessions. Without the generosity of parents’ support by way of the Voluntary Contributions the Pre-School would simply not be able to operate.
All donations – no matter how big or small – make a difference to the facilities we are able to offer to your child, ensuring we can pay our dedicated and qualified staff a competitive salary, keeping the Pre-School well stocked with vital and good quality resources and also helping fund larger projects such as the recent replacement of the climbing frame.
Payments can be made in one half termly lump sum or in smaller installments, online or via childcare vouchers (see “Ways to Pay” for more details).
We ask all new parents if they would be willing to sign a gift aid declaration form where one or both parents are UK taxpayers. When we hold a completed form on file we are able to claim back an extra 25% on Voluntary Contributions and some donations from fundraising activities.
As you can imagine, this makes a significant difference to the Pre-School's funding.
Ways to Pay
Please see below for details of the Pre-School bank account to enable online transfers (please put your child’s name as the reference) and the schemes through which the Pre-School can accept payment by way of childcare vouchers (both under the old scheme and the new tax free childcare scheme that has recently been introduced).
Unfortunately we can’t claim gift aid on voucher payments, so if your childcare costs exceed the value of vouchers you receive and you have a choice as to which provider to use them for, then we would be very grateful if you could consider using your vouchers elsewhere and paying St James’ with cash instead.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to speak to Tracey or the Treasurer.
